Philhaven's Residential Program abides by the Sanctuary Model’s Seven Commitments:
- Non-Violence
- Social Responsibility
- Growth and Change
- Shared Governance
- Emotional Intelligence
- Social Learning
- Open Communication
Sanctuary Model: The Sanctuary Model represents an evidence supported, trauma-informed method for creating or changing an organizational culture in order to more effectively provide a cohesive context within which healing from psychological and social traumatic experience can be addressed. It is a whole system approach designed to facilitate the development of structures, processes and behaviors on the part of staff, children, and the community-as-a-whole that can counteract the biological, affective, cognitive, social and existential wounds suffered by the children in care.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI): TCI is Philhaven’s adopted crisis intervention, early intervention, and response philosophy. It is the umbrella under which all therapeutic interventions at Philhaven are implemented.
Recovery Model: The Recovery Model is an approach to mental disorder or substance dependence that emphasizes and supports each individual’s potential for recovery. Recovery is seen within the model as a personal journey that may involve developing hope a secure base and sense of self, supportive relationships, empowerment, social inclusion, coping skills and meaning.
