CEO ANNOUNCED AT PHILHAVEN

The Philhaven Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Hess as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer.

A graduate of Goshen College (Bachelor of Arts in Biology-1981) and Duke University (Master of Health Administration-1988), Phil has served at Philhaven since 1988. He’s held various positions at Philhaven including Assistant to the Medical Director, Associate Director of Operations, Director of Operations, Chief Operating Officer and most recently as interim CEO since June 11, 2008. We believe that Phil offers an excellent combination of leadership skills, industry knowledge, vision and passion for the Philhaven mission.

In the Fall of 2007 a board-appointed search committee began seeking CEO candidates with the support of MHS Alliance. Early in the process, the committee solicited board and staff input to identify organizational priorities and candidate criteria. The committee interviewed Phil as well as several outstanding external candidates during this period.

Phil emerged from this process as the strongest candidate. The Board is pleased to offer him this important position. The board is very pleased with his leadership over the past 20 years and during the interim period as the Interim CEO. The board also sought and received feedback from various Philhaven and community leaders that was overwhelmingly positive. On November 20, 2008, the board unanimously supported the committee’s recommendation of Phil’s appointment.
